Prose and Cons about Goal - Free Evaluation

چکیده
TRACES are what evaluators left behind—discoveries, records, tracks—which made marks on the profession of program evaluation. Published here are excerpts from our past (e.g., articles, passages from books, speeches) that show where we have been or affected where we are g(r)o(w)ing. Suggestions for inclusion should be sent to the Editor, along with rationale for their import. Photocopies of the original printed versions are preferred with full bibliographic information. Copying rights will be secured by the Editor. Editor's Note: The two articles that follow are very early copies of Michael Scriven's and Robert Stake's writings on goal-free and responsive evaluation, respectively. Many thanks to the UCLA Center for the Study of Evaluation for permission to copy Scriven's paper

Metonymic Pole of Sufi Prose Language with Emphasis on Shams-e- Tabrizi’s Essays
Among extant books of Sufis prose, the prose of Maqalat-e Shams-e Tabrizi has high and particular qualities. Its special language and the sensitivity that Shams shows in every point of his Maqalat regarding language makes us observe the dialectic between structure and meaning of language which is the results of forming a progressive prose compared to the prose of his contemporaries. Among ...
متن کاملComplexity Hierarchies and Higher-Order Cons-Free Rewriting
Constructor rewriting systems are said to be cons-free if, roughly, constructor terms in the righthand sides of rules are subterms of constructor terms in the left-hand side; the computational intuition is that rules cannot build new data structures. It is well-known that cons-free programming languages can be used to characterize computational complexity classes, and that cons-free first-order...
متن کاملDoes the Drug Facts Label for nonprescription drugs meet its design objectives? A new procedure for assessing label effectiveness
We demonstrate an expanded procedure for assessing drug-label comprehension. Innovations include a pretest of drug preconceptions, verbal ability and label attentiveness measures, a label-scanning task, a free-recall test, category-clustering measures, and preconception-change scores. In total, 55 female and 39 male undergraduates read a facsimile Drug Facts Label for aspirin, a Cohesive-Prose ...
متن کاملThe System of Engagement in a Sample of Prose Fiction and the News
Emerging within Systemic Linguistics, Appraisal/Evaluation is a framework for analyzing the language of evaluation, providing techniques for the systematic analysis of evaluation and stance as they operate in whole texts and in groupings of texts. There are three systems in the Appraisal framework: Attitude, Engagement, and Graduation. This study sets out to analyze the use of the system of Eng...
